Kevin Storm is the Associate Director of Design at the DC Office of Planning (DCOP), where he leads the Design Division. Through the lens of urban design, he guides the department’s efforts to elevate design quality; shape great neighborhoods, buildings and public spaces; and strengthen DC as a livable city that is inclusive, equitable and resilient.

Mr. Storm has more than twenty years of professional experience as an urban designer and architect. Prior to joining DCOP, he led the urban design studio of an architecture and planning firm, managing and designing projects in the US and abroad for both private and public-sector clients. Mr. Storm’s project experience includes a range of types and scales: broad framework planning, campus planning, waterfront planning, neighborhood visioning, urban design guidelines, and architectural building design. He has played a key role in DC’s Comprehensive Plan as well as plans for Adams Morgan, NoMA, and the Washington Union Station Expansion Project. Mr. Storm has worked in multiple cities on urban design strategies and guidelines that carefully balance development pressures with community aspirations, equity, neighborhood character, historic preservation, and sustainability.

Mr. Storm holds a Master of Architecture in Urban Design degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami. He is a LEED-accredited, registered architect in DC, Maryland and Virginia, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He is a member of the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Architects, where he has served on the Board of Directors of the DC Chapter since 2017
