Ken Janda is President and CEO of Community Health Choice, Inc. (Community), a Houston-based managed care organization that provides managed health care plans focused on low-income families, including: Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Community is a Qualified Health Plan issuer in the subsidized individual Health Insurance Marketplace. Community is a 501(c)4 and an affiliate of the Harris Health System.
Ken oversees a team of over 400 employees serving over 340,000 Members in all facets of managed care: Member Services, Claims, Network, and Clinical Management, Information Systems, Marketing, and Regulatory Affairs. In addition to serving those in governmental programs, Community is committed to improving health outcomes for its Members and reducing the number of uninsured through new, subsidized programs for the working uninsured. Ken has over 30 years of experience in the managed care industry. Prior to joining Community in 2008, he served as Houston Market President for Humana. And he held leadership positions with Aetna and Prudential Healthcare in marketing, finance, and management of Provider networks in Houston and other markets.
A proud native of Bellville, Texas, Ken is a graduate of Rice University with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, economics, and managerial studies. He also holds a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He is certified by the National Association of Health Underwriters as a Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Professional. Ken strongly supports the local Houston community through a variety of personal and corporate activities. He is a member of the Boards of Directors of Christ Clinic, Katy, the Katy ISD Educational Foundation, San Jose Clinic, and TexHealth Harris County 3-Share Plan. In addition, he serves on the Greater Houston Partnership’s Health Care Advisory Committee and the Texas Medical Center’s Health Policy Institute’s Executive Committee. He also serves on the Dean’s Advisory Committee to the School of Social Science at Rice University. Beyond Houston, Ken advocates for health policy issues in Texas as a member of the Executive Committees of the Board of the Texas Association of Health Plans and Texas Association of Community Health Plans. Nationally, he serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of the Association of Community Affiliated Plans, an association of 60 non-profit safety net health plans across the country.
