Keang Peng Song

Associate Professor at Monash University Malaysia

Biography

Associate Professor Song Keang Peng completed his Bachelors of Dental Surgery in 1988 at the Chung Shan Medical University, Taiwan before undertaking a PhD at the Health Sciences Center, Texas Tech University, USA in 1995 in the areas of medical and dental microbiology, molecular biology and biochemistry. His current research interests are in the molecular pathogenesis of infectious diseases, in particular periodontal diseases and pseudomembranous colitis.

Associate Professor Song's leadership roles within the School are varied. He was Head of the School of Science (2008-2012) and currently serve as Deputy Head of School (Education). Externally, he has served as a member of an expert panel - APEC project meeting on DNA-analysis for human health in the post genomic era, Thailand (2003), and an expert scientist on anaerobic bacteriology - Water quality program on reclaimed water, Singapore National NEWater project (1999-2002).
