Research Summary

Currently I am working on an ERC funded project entitled ''Famhealth'' led by Professor Emily Grundy. The project investigates how family life courses influence health and well-being in later adulthood, using data from different European countries.

Previously I worked and studied at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). Most of my previous research relates to health in post-Soviet countries, particularly Russia. I completed my PhD thesis on the longitudinal relationship between alcohol use and family processes in Russia.

For the last few years I have been involved with qualitative research exploring the social context of male heavy drinking in the Urals, Russia. I also have a longstanding interest in fertility and abortion, and have conducted research into sex-selective abortion in the Caucasus region.
