Karyn Moore

Formerly, she served as the Associate Dean of Mid-career Programs and Associate Dean of the Masters of Information Systems at the Heinz School. 

In her program administration role, she launched the Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) degree as well as the Master of Science in Information Security Management. She was also responsible for the development and growth of the distance education offering of the MSIT program.

Ms. Moore’s degrees include a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Information Science (Systems Track), both from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been with the Heinz School since 1989, having held several administrative positions. Prior to that she was a senior systems analyst with Alcoa. She has over nine years of graduate-level teaching experience including distance education, and over 15 years of information systems management experience in industry and academia.

Ms. Moore has received the Heinz School Staff Excellence Award (1991) and the Information Systems Programs Teaching Excellence Award (2007).

Professor Moore enjoys teaching courses in Database Management, Information Systems for Managers, and Business Process Modeling.

Ms. Moore has served on the board of directors and provided IT consulting to various nonprofits in the Pittsburgh area including Pittsburgh Action Against Rape and Family Resources.
