Biography

McCombs School of Business

Julie is a former nurse and business school professor now working with health/med tech startup teams navigating the managerial challenges of growth that accompany each bump in funding. She has worked with in-person, virtual, and hybrid teams in the med tech, health tech, energy, and automotive industries, but med tech/health tech/life sciences are where her heart is.

Using evidence-based and field-tested methodologies, she helps teams better leverage their existing talent, make smarter hires, and build flexible management infrastructures that can withstand the challenges of growth. This results in more successful companies, decreased risk for investors, and more products coming to market to positively impact healthcare.

Her PhD is from MIT’s Sloan School of Management where she studied the intersection of teams, technology, and change. After leaving academia, a stint in UX research gave her insight into the challenges of product development and product team management, and she’s been hooked ever since. She’s currently a volunteer mentor for the healthcare vertical at Austin Technology Incubator and a Founding Team Member of TEXGHS (Texas Global Health Security Innovation Consortium) where she works with companies offering pandemic-related innovations.

She holds certifications in strengths-based organizational development methodologies, including Appreciative Inquiry, Strengthscope™, and the Chief Reinvention Officer Method™.
