Biography

Julia Heimer Dadds has served as adjunct faculty at Indiana University since 2011, teaching at the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. During her time at IU, she co-developed and taught a class on public leadership for a new certificate program in College of Arts and Science, developed community partnerships to support student learning and activities, and served as an assistant instructor in curriculum studies in Early Childhood and Elementary Education (ECE).

Heimer-Dadds has worked in the nonprofit and governmental sectors in management and leadership for over 20 years, serving as executive director for two agencies—including opening a school, in senior management positions in four agencies, and has served on over five governing boards, including helping to found the Non-Profit Alliance for Monroe County. 

Among the courses she has taught are Pluralism in American Education, an Infant-Toddler Multi-literacies course to sophomore ECE student cohort, a Senior Seminar to a cohort in student teaching in ECE, Foundations of Care (ECE) in cultural and behavioral dynamics, seminar to Special Education students in Urban Field Placement, and a graduate course Curriculum in the Context of Instruction.

She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Indiana University with a focus on professional development.
