Biography
Joyce E. Bono is a Professor of Management at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business. She has a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior (minor in Personality and Social Psychology) from the University of Iowa (2001), an MS in Administration from the University of Notre Dame Business School (1996), and BA from Spring Arbor College in Human Resources (1990). Her research interests include leadership, personality, motivation, job attitudes and emotions, the advancement of women leaders, and the effects of managers on employees’ quality of work life. She has published more than 30 articles on these and related topics journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Psychological Bulletin. She teaches graduate level Leadership, Motivation and Attitudes, and Organizational Behavior.
Professor Bono is currently an Associate Editor for Academy of Management Journal. She has served on a number of editorial boards including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, and Leadership Quarterly. She is the recipient of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology’s Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award and is a former holder of the Marvin D. Dunnette Chair in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Her research has been recognized with the Academy of Management Human Resource Divisions’ Scholarly Achievement Award, and with the Center for Creative Leadership-Leadership Quarterly Best Paper Award. She currently serves as an elected Representative-at Large for the Organizational Behavior division of the Academy of Management.
She believes that work (and the classroom) should be both productive and fun and is passionate about teaching experienced and aspiring managers how to create environments that achieve business objectives while supporting employee autonomy and well-being.
