Presentation

My main current subjects of interest are the role of cards and other calculative devices in finance and how markets are organized, evaluated and tamed. My Ph.D. thesis focused on the history of private health insurance in Chile, and I am currently studying the consumer credit industry and markets that are used as social policy. My work talks with research developed in economic anthropology and sociology, social studies of finance, contemporary social theory, and organization and science and technology studies. I spend some of my organizing energy trying to coordinate the collective blog Estudios de la Economía and the Copenhagen Markets and Valuations Group.
