Jordan Lite

Instructor, Communicating Public Health in the Media

Biography

-

I am managing editor at Weill Cornell Medicine and specialize in communicating health and science information to general-interest audiences. I spent five years covering medicine for the New York Daily News, and prior to that was a general assignment reporter for the Associated Press, first in Des Moines and then San Francisco. I also was the lead writer for Scientific American’s first news blog, 60-Second Science. My freelance work has been published in Newsweek, The Nation, Prevention, SELF, Scientific American MIND, Psychology Today, Miller-McCune (now Pacific Standard), Wired News, GOOD, AOL Health and iVillage, among other publications. In addition, I have edited and written for various institutional, nonprofit and custom publications.

I earned my MPH from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health with an emphasis on history and ethics, and graduated with honors in biomedical ethics from Brown University. I teach a summer course in science communication at the Mailman School. Please visit Communicating Public Health in the Media for more information.
