Dr. Jonathan Jenkins, Psy.D, CMPC is a Clinical Psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant in the Greater Boston area. Dr. Jenkins is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) where he works in the Child/Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry Department and Sport Psychology Department. In his work with youth, Dr. Jenkins co-authored and co-facilitated both mental wellness and racial identity development workshops for high school aged youth to dismantle mental health stigma, encourage mental healthcare utilization, and provide a safe space for youth to discuss the impacts of racism. Dr. Jenkins is currently the Co-Chair of MGH’s Psychiatry Department’s Anti-Racism Task Force. Dr. Jenkins was previously a Leadership Council Member of the Colorado Psychological Association’s Society for the Advancement of Multiculturalism and Diversity.

In his role in the Sport Psychology Department, Dr. Jenkins supports both amateur and professional athletes with improving their focus, concentration, and anxiety management during competition. Additionally, Dr. Jenkins will work with athletes and teams to manage significant crises that may arise, and he often engages in team building exercises with teams and organizations. In addition to working with athletes in this capacity, Dr. Jenkins also works with other individuals in high-performance occupations, such as artists, executives, lawyers, and others.

Additionally, Dr. Jenkins has facilitated numerous diversity initiatives, needs assessments, and workshops for various organizations, including academic institutions, professional sports organizations, corporations of various sizes (10-15,000+ employees), healthcare systems, and small businesses. Additionally, Dr. Jenkins has created personalized audiocasts to provide brief but meaningful mental health and performance education to various entities, including Movement Workshop, a local fitness studio in Massachusetts, and the Para Rowing Foundation, a worldwide foundation supporting para athletes in international and Olympic rowing competition. Dr. Jenkins has been involved in supporting efforts locally and nationally to reduce the stigma of mental health and mental healthcare via speaking engagements, public policy lobbying, and his book, Wednesday Afternoons with Dr. J. This book serves to educate children on the basics of psychotherapy while also helping to dismantle the stigmas related to speaking about one’s feelings and working with a psychotherapist. Dr. Jenkins also has a guest column in the Psychotherapy Bulletin called “Clinical Notes with Dr. J.” Jonathan has been interviewed by a variety of media outlets, including NBC Sports Boston, The American Psychological Association (APA), Women’s Health Magazine, The Pillars of Health Podcast, The Diversity Inside Lacrosse Podcast, Boston Magazine, News-O-Matic, and US Lacrosse Magazine.
