Biography

A native of Detroit, John Guy is a graduate of Michigan State University where he studied Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management. Guy worked for ClubCorp, a worldwide club management company, where he enjoyed an 18-year career managing various clubs.

Following ClubCorp, Guy transitioned to the member-owned side of the private club industry, where he served as General Manager of The Standard Club of Chicago for 11 years. His accomplishments at The Standard Club earned him the Excellence In Club Management Award, sponsored by the McMahon Group, Inc., a national private club consulting and architectural firm, and was awarded by a panel of nationally renowned club managers. While working in Chicago, he worked as an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University where he taught the club management class.

After The Standard Club, Guy decided to expand his experience to include country club management and in 2009 became the General Manager of Northwood Club (sight of the 1952 U.S. Open) in Dallas, Texas. During his brief tenure at Northwood Club, he raised the quality of food and beverage, overall service levels, constructed and opened a full service 8,000-square-feet fitness center with group exercise, child care and massage, a new half-way house, 100-seat indoor-outdoor poolside restaurant, and a resort-style pool complex. In 2011, Guy transitioned back to his Midwest roots by becoming General Manager of Westmoreland Country Club in suburban Wilmette.
