John Davis

Professor in Practice at McCombs School of Business

Biography

McCombs School of Business

A lifelong learner, John's career has expanded the understanding of 'why people do what they do?' through applied market research to business problems. Thinking as a psychologist, and depending on the discipline of the scientific method, John's approach to finding the Truths of human behavior delivers dependable guidance for marketing, product development, operational efficiency and other critical business intelligence matters.

As a behavioral economist, John is a firm believer in both the predictability and the irrationality of human decision making. Experience clearly demonstrates that many theoretical 'conventional wisdoms' do not accurately predict human behavior as well as an 'It Is What It Is' recognition of well measured facts. He's spent most of his career solving marketing problems of customer acquisition and customer development (CRM), but he's also brought the common sense of objective evidence to business intelligence in operations, policy analysis and strategic planning.

The Lazarus Group, LLC is a collection of professionals that John has curated over the term of his productive career. The All Star Collection consists of - to a person - trusted and uber-competent practitioners who specialize in their field. Data processors (now, at least in California, known as data scientists), statistical analysts, email and consumer database managers, media planners, data collectors (big and survey data), direct mail and email specialists...John curates the best team for the projects he manages, and serves as Project Manager to best define and solve commercial problems with a custom solution.
