Jim Robison has over 30 years’ experience in business operations management as director of supply chain, director of production control, materials manager, inventory manager, purchasing manager, accounts payable manager, and as the owner of a small business. In addition, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 22 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Jim earned a Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.) degree in operations and technology management from Golden Gate University, a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from Sonoma State University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, in business and industrial management, from San Jose State University. Jim is a Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management, CFPIM, and is certified in Integrated Resource Management, CIRM; both certifications awarded by APICS, the Association for Operations Management. He is certified as a Project Manager Professional, PMP, and an Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) by the Project Management Institute. Jim has also earned the Certified Purchasing Manager, C.P.M., designation from the Institute for Supply Management.

Jim is a past-president of the Redwood Empire Chapter of APICS and has presented at APICS International Conferences. He has published articles in the Production and Inventory Management Journal, one of which won the Article of the Year Award. His doctoral dissertation, which investigated process flexibility in the U.S. wine industry, won the APICS award for the best doctoral dissertation of the year in operations management. Jim is also a member of the Production Operations Management Society, has presented at POMS International Conferences, and has been published in the Production Operations Management Journal. Jim has been teaching business classes at Sonoma State University since 2003, focusing on operations management, management information systems, project management and strategic management. Most recently, he has developed a business simulation game that teaches strategic management to students as they manage a fictitious winery over a simulated 12-year period. "Annual" decisions are uploaded weekly and the results, in the form of various financial and managerial reports, are downloaded the following week.
