Biography

University of Technology Sydney

Jill Gatland has been a legal practitioner for over 15 years and practices in a diverse range of areas with an emphasis on taxation, administrative law, equity and commercial litigation. Jill has experience in all forms of commercial dispute resolution, including litigation in various state and federal courts and tribunals, as well as arbitration, mediation and conciliation.

Much of her work involves complex and sensitive litigation for clients in the public and private sectors.

Before coming to the Bar, Jill was a Principal Litigator with the Australian Taxation Office in Sydney where she had day to day management of large contested tax matters concerning questions of income tax, superannuation, residency (for taxation purposes) and administrative law disputes.

Jill’s unique professional background and experience informs her pragmatic and principled approach to litigation. Jill has a thorough appreciation of the issues affecting public sector clients and a realistic approach to advocacy for private clients in navigating disputes.
