Biography

Sciences Po

Jérôme Aust holds a PhD in Political Science and has been a researcher at Sciences Po since 2007. His research concentrates on higher education and research policy. After finishing his dissertation on the “governance of university location policies since the 1960s,” Aust has focused on two research areas:

First, as a continuation of his doctoral work, he studies the redistricting of higher education and research policies.
This work has led him to examine the creation of French higher education and research clusters [Pôles de recherche et d’enseignement supérieur, or PRES] as well as the reshuffling of a portion of the Ministry for Higher Education and Research’s decentralized offices as the Ministry underwent reform.

Second, he investigates the making of French and British scientific policy since the 1960s.
Developed within the framework of the ANR [French National Research Agency] project that he coordinated, entitled “Governing Science”, Jérôme Aust’s second line of research considers how scientific priorities are defined by evaluating the interactions between government representatives, the scientific community, and socio-economic interests. This project was conducted in collaboration with professors and researchers from the Inserm, the CNRS, the Institut français de l’Education, Sciences Po - Toulouse, and the University of Lausanne.
