Jeffrey (Yu Qing) Shen

Biography

Jeffrey (YuQing) Shen joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Adjunct Professor of Finance and International Business in 2002.

Jeff Shen, PhD, Managing Director, is the head of BlackRock's Emerging Markets and Co-head of Investments for BlackRock's Scientific Active Equity. He is a member of the Global Operating Committee, Human Capital Committee and Asia Pacific Executive Committee.

Dr. Shen's service with the firm dates back to 2004, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was the Head of Asia and Emerging Market equity investment. Prior to joining BGI, he was the global head of asset allocation research and macro absolute return investment at JP Morgan Asset Management. Dr. Shen began his career in 1997 and worked in fund of hedge funds, risk management research and macro investment functions for JP Morgan in New York and London. In addition, he is an adjunct professor at NYU and UC Berkeley teaching MBA/MFE classes on international investment.

Dr. Shen earned a BA degree in economics from Hobart College in 1993, an MA degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1995, and a PhD degree in finance from New York University in 2000.
