Dr. Jean Adams is Assistant Professor at Schulich School of Business (York University Toronto, Canada) with experience in both management and education – school teacher, manager and coach/trainer in the corporate sector, professor in leadership / management education and competence development in BBA, MBA and EMBA programs. Jean pursued her doctorate after spending almost two decades in a variety of management jobs that included Retail Sales, Scheduling and Operations, Sales and Marketing, Employee Development and Training, Line Support Consulting, and Financial Management including Capital Budgeting. She has been participating in an action-learning research project for over a decade involving a bottom-up build of the NewMindsets “second generation” e-learning system that is being used in university and corporate contexts. Upon completion of her dissertation, Jean was awarded the Governor-General’s Gold Medal (2005) for “the highest distinction in scholarship” at York University. The NewMindsets e-learning system itself has also won numerous awards for design and implementation and is ASTD certified. Jean has presented her work at numerous conferences and published a variety of articles. Her research interests include organizational learning, learning organizations, technology enhanced learning (especially e-learning), leadership, management education, high performing teams, critical thinking, creativity and "new mindsets," and action-learning research methodology.
