Janusz Konrad is a member of the Information Sciences and Systems (ISS) Group, where he heads the Visual Information Processing (VIP) Laboratory. He is also a member of the Center for Information and Systems Engineering, and the Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center. His current research interests concentrate on visual sensor networks (camera webs), advanced video processing and compression, next generation human-computer interfaces, stereoscopic and 3-D imaging, multidimensional digital signal processing, and biomedical imaging.
He is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing and also an Area Editor for the EURASIP Signal Processing: Image Communication. In the past, he was on editorial boards of various journals and on program committees of numerous conferences.
He was recently the General Chair of the 10th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Video and Signal Based Surveillance, AVSS-2013. He is a Tutorials Co-Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, ICIP-2015.
Dr. Konrad has been a consultant for a number of law firms, and among them Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe LLP, New York, NY and Washington, DC; Day, Casebeer, Madrid and Batchelder LLP, Cupertino; CA, Kilpatrick Stockton LLP, Atlanta, GA; and Sherr & Nourse PLLC, Herndon, VA. In the past, he collaborated with Imax Corp., EMC Corp., Digital Equipment Corp .
