Biography

Bristol Business School

Prior to joining Bristol Business School, I was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Victoria in Wellington (VUW), New Zealand where I was module leader for a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Services Marketing, Research Methods, Social Marketing and Intergrated Marketing Communications. At VUW I served on the University Ethics and the Research and Study Leave Committees and repesented my School at Faculty Board Meetings. Early in my career at Victoria University I was elected by my academic peers as an Executive Member of the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC). I served on the committee for six years. My PhD was awarded by the University of Bradford School of Management, which is where my academic career began. Prior to my life in academia I worked as an IT analyst in London for companies such as KPMG and International Distillers. Area of expertise I lecture at Undergraduate and Masters level on a variety of marketing courses. At VUW and Bristol Business School I have actively sought to be involved in projects that engage with external bodies such as the Executive Development programme, Knowledge Based Transfer, the MBA and the Masters Dissertation. One of my strengths is that I enjoy the collaborative aspect of working with professionals from different disciplines. I am the Course Director for the following professional short courses. Introduction to Marketing, Marketing Communications, and Social Marketing: A practical approach to changing behaviour and An Introduction to Customer Relationship Management.

UWE is committed to creating Globally Responsible and Future-facing Graduates and as part of this is adhering to the UN PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) objectives. My task as the sustainability representative for Bristol Business School is to work with lecturers to encourage them to embrace this agenda as it offers potential for enhancing the student experience and employability and potentially staff satisfaction. My work with lecturers and students involves identifying ways in which HE contributes to global change. In particular, the role involves the wider discussion of benefits to staff and students of actively engaging in education for sustainable development and the opportunities for developing interdisciplinary collaboration. I am the Partnership Link Tutor for Alexander College in Cyprus. This is a well established partner with whom UWE have been working for five years. We currently offer BA Business Management with Accounting and Finance and MSc Business Management there on a full franchise basis. I would welcome applications from potential PhD candidates wishing to explore areas, which fit within my areas of interest. I have experience-supervising students to completion using different methodologies. If you are interested in having a conversation about a possible project please get in touch. In my recreational time I enjoy running, photography and I am also a devoted beekeeper.
