Biography
He is the author of Empire on the Hudson and Metropolitan Transportation Politics and the New York Region; also, coauthor of Men Who Govern; The Assistant Secretaries; and New York: The Politics of Urban Regional Development; coauthor and joint editor of Leadership and Innovation: Entrepreneurs in Government; and editor and coauthor of Criminal Corrections: Ideals and Realities and of Combating Corruption/Encouraging Ethics. He is currently a member of the advisory board at the Taubman Center, Harvard University, and he has been associated with the Woodrow Wilson Center, The Brookings Institution, and the National Center for Administrative Justice. He has served as vice chair of New Jersey’s Corrections Council and as a consultant to the Vera Institute of Justice, the American Bar Association, and the Regional Plan Association. He received the Herbert Kaufman Award of the American Political Science Association (1989) and the Usher Prize of the Society for the History of Technology (1995). He received an M.P.A. from the Woodrow Wilson School. Ph.D. Princeton University.
