Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy
James leads the design practice for Urbis as well as sitting on the Board of Urbis. With over 20 years of experience spanning Australia, Asia, Europe and the Middle East James has led a significant number of nationally and internationally recognised integrated development and master planning projects. He has qualifications and experience in both Urban Design and Landscape Architecture and also has held a number of advisory positions including as Chair of the Property Council's Committee for Cities, a member of the inaugural Creative Brisbane Board, Adjunct Professor to the school of design at QUT, the Queensland Government's Board for Urban Places and as an independent chair for the Green Building Council of Australia. James is also a member of the Independent Design Advisory Panel for Brisbane City Council.
An urban regeneration and mixed use development specialist, James has shaped the development and public realm outcomes for precincts including Paddington Basin in London, Brighton in the UK, Ipswich City Centre, Toowoomba, Caloundra South (Australia's largest Master planned community) on the Sunshine Coast, Melbourne Docklands, Adelaide Hospital Precinct, Kawana Town Centre and Health Precinct, Malaysia's Danga Bay, Brisbane City Centre, and Queensland's Cultural Precinct.
Public space and urban infrastructure are also key interests. James led the firms work on the successful Howard Smith Wharves bid process, the master plan for Queens Wharf in Brisbane and is currently leading the team developing a vision for the City Centre of Springfield.
