Presentation

The aim of this project is to analyze how leadership emerges in military high-risk teams where the soldiers in a high-risk environment are subjected to exceptional conditions. Work in high-risk environments is characterized by a complexity that makes it impossible to predict all scenarios, as an unexpected or unforeseen mistake or incident can affect all aspects of the system or organization in unexpected or unforeseen ways. The project will take as its starting point leadership in one or more Danish military high-risk teams. Methodically, I will follow the teams during operative deployment and possibly hazardous training exercises and take on the role of active team member or accompanying non-participant team member. In both cases the use of for example helmet camera and sound recording of radio communication as well as normal verbal communication may be relevant. I will conduct qualitative interviews to qualify and put into perspective the collected data.
