Irina B. Panovska earned her doctorate and master’s degrees in economics from Washington University in St. Louis, and her Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Ohio University. She joined the economics department at Lehigh University in 2013.
Professor Panovska’s research interests include empirical macroeconomics and time series econometrics. In particular, her current projects focus on explaining the asymmetric effects of policy over the business cycle and on business cycle nonlinearities. Her recent work has been published in Macroeconomic Dynamics, Journal of International Money and Finance, Health Affairs, and Journal of Macroeconomics.
She received the Frank Hook Assistant Professorship award for outstanding junior scholars and teachers, and will hold the Hook Assistant professorship for the academic years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.
