The London School of Economics and Political Science
Igor Stramignoni holds advanced law degrees from LUISS, Cornell, and Oxford, and has been the recipient of multiple awards from Italy’s CNR, the British Academy, and other distinguished research institutions. Before joining the law school, Igor practised law in several internationally renowned law firms and lectured on law and other subjects in Rome, Oxford, and Nagoya-City in Japan. At LSE, Igor has taught cohorts of graduate and undergraduate students, winning a prestigious LSE Teaching Excellence Award in 2017. Igor has presented papers world-wide, including at Cardozo Law School in New York City and the Tate Gallery in London, and has been Visiting Professor of Comparative Law at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. He is currently a member of the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Law in Context (Cambridge University Press), and the Edinburgh Studies in Law, Justice, and the Visual (Edinburgh University Press). In his research, Igor is particularly interested in innovative approaches that have the potential of engaging with the architecture of legal knowledge under contemporary conditions.

- He is also qualified for the Italian bar.
Research interests
Igor is best known for his writings on the philosophy of Alain Badiou and its analyses and remedies to do with modern media-saturated environments, but he has also made significant contributions to the history of law in early modern Europe, to the theory of comparative law, and to the now burgeoning field of law and space. He is happy to supervise prospective doctoral candidates in any of those areas of interest.
