Cindy Wang is Associate Professor in the School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Cindy’s work engages contemporary communication design, art practice and theory. Cindy holds a BFA from the School of Visual Art and a MA in New York University (NYU), Dept. of Graphic Communication Management & Technology.

Commercially Cindy has over 20 years industry experience as a creative practitioner and design consultant, working for international clients such as KYMCO Motorcycle Company (Taiwan), Shinkong Misukoshi Department Store (Taiwan) and Giorgio Armani. As a graphic artist Cindy's work has won several prestigious industry awards including the Gold Award, Design for Asia Award (Hong Kong), the Art Director Club (ADC Award, USA), the One Show Design Award (USA), the GOOD DESIGN Award (USA), the Red Dot Design Award: Communication Design (DE), the iF Communication Design Award, and the Golden Butterfly Award (Taiwan), among others. Cindy has published, lectured on and curated exhibitions related to contemporary art and design.

Cindy's current research is devote to design thinking with Chinese aesthetics and focusses on the methods and processes of adapting the theory of Chinese aesthetics into contemporary art and design practice, not only as a concept and philosophy, but also as a strategy for cultivating creativity. The area of interest have culminated into her current research project which is to employ the Chinese aesthetics and apply it to design and art practice to revitalize and extend classical Chinese aesthetics in a cross cultural context, and to seek new perspectives on the design approach and its application of visual representation and creative art form.
