Dr. Gooding is an adolescent medicine specialist in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, an internist in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, co-director of the Harvard Macy Program for Educators in the Health Professions, faculty advisor for the HMS Medical Education Student Interest Group, and co-chair of the HMS Wellness and Mental Health Taskforce.

Dr. Gooding received her BS from the University of Georgia, her MSc in medical science from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MD from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). She completed her clinical fellowships in internal and adolescent medicine at Brigham and Woman’s and Boston Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Gooding’s research explores the preservation of cardiovascular health both during and following the transition from adolescence to adulthood. This research uses longitudinal epidemiologic cohorts such as the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health) and the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) study as well as clinical populations such as young women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and healthy youth eligible for cholesterol screening.

In addition to her research and clinical work, Dr. Gooding teaches about adolescent and young adult care to medical students, pediatric and internal medicine residents, interdisciplinary adolescent medicine fellows, and health care professionals.
