Hennie Daniels is professor emeritus of Business Intelligence at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He studied Mathematics and Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology where he graduated cum laude. He holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics of University of Groningen. Later he worked at the Department of Informatics at the National Aerospace Laboratory on optimizing satellite and aircraft structures.

He served as a professor in Business Intelligence at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and as associate professor at the University of Tilburg. Furthermore he was visiting professor at Washington University St. Louis, and Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh on invitation of the British Research Council. He also participated in several EU projects on Artificial Intelligence in Economics. Currently working part-time at the University of Tilburg, Department of Econometrics and the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Business School. His research focuses mainly on the application of AI techniques for exception reporting and auditing big data. He published a large number of articles in international journals and is a member of the editorial board of Computational Economics.
