Hattie Mitchell is a Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation (PBPN) tribal member and grew up on the PBPN reservation in Mayetta, Kansas. She was elected to the PBPN Tribal Council and served as Treasurer 2012-2016. Academically she is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and also graduated with a BBA with emphasis in Accounting and Finance from Washburn University. Mitchell has served as the Director of Finance for AMERIND Risk located in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM. In addition, she has also worked as the Director of Internal Audit for the Seneca Gaming Authority in Western New York. Before serving as Treasurer with PBPN, she worked for six years as an accountant for Security Benefit in Topeka, Kansas and for five years in gaming operations at Harrah’s Prairie Band Casino (now known as the Prairie Band Casino & Resort). Her most recent honor was being selected by the Washburn Alumni Association for the 2014 Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) award. She also serves as Treasurer for the Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFOA).
