Fordham University
Gyula Klima is a Hungarian philosopher, doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, director of the Research Center for the History of Ideas at the Institute of Hungarian Studies , and lecturer at Fordham University in New York .
He worked as a scientific assistant from 1982, from 1986 as a scientific associate, and from 1993 as a senior scientific associate at the Institute of Philosophy of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, until 1997. From 1989 to 1990, and then in 1991, he was a visiting fellow of the Academy of Finland with a scholarship. In 1990, he was a visiting fellow at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, then in 1991 at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. From 1991 to 1992, he worked as a guest lecturer and from 1992 to 1995 as an assistant professor at Yale University.
Between 1995 and 1999, he was employed by the University of Notre Dame as an associate professor; then from 1999 to 2003 he was an associate professor at Fordham University. Between 2002 and 2003, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with an ACLS scholarship. From 2003, he continued his work as a professor at Fordham University until today. In 2009, he obtained the title of Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From 2019, he is the director of the History of Ideas Research Center of the Institute of Hungarian Studies.
