Teaching:

My teaching reflects my research interests in medieval literature, the history of the book, and translation studies. In 2009/10 I was awarded a University Teaching Excellence Award for my innovative teaching practice, and have used the award money to develop further digital initiatives for the teaching of medieval studies and the history of the Italian book.

I teach across the School on undergraduate and postgraduate medieval and book history modules, and currently offer an Italian Level 3 module on the history of Dante''s Divine Comedy. I also teach on various language and cultural courses within the department and School.

In 2006/07 I successfully completed a 30-credit module in University Teaching and Learning for the Cardiff University Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning.

In 2002 I was awarded a Certificate of Distinction in Teaching from Harvard University.

Research students

I am currently involved in the supervision for four PhDs in the fields of translation and the history of the book, and have also supervised undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations in medieval studies, translation studies, and modern Italian narrative. I am available to supervise doctoral research in any of my areas of expertise, especially textual studies from manuscript to digital media, Boccaccio and Italian premodern literature, and translation and literature.
