Weatherhead School of Management
Prior to earning his doctoral degree, Gregory A. Jonas, PhD, CMA, worked for over twenty years in roles ranging from cost accountant to CEO. His industry experience includes working with closely held corporations, acquisitions, and company turnarounds. Since receiving his PhD in 2007 from the Virginia Commonwealth University, Jonas’s research has focused on two main streams, antecedents and consequences of corporate disclosures, and exploring factors associated with the development of accounting scholars.
Jonas’s appointment at Case Western Reserve University began in 2007. His teaching specialty focuses on graduate level financial analysis topics. Recent courses he has taught include Corporate Reporting & Analysis, Financial & Managerial Accountancy, and Archival Research Methods.
Jonas has numerous publications. He has presented at the American Accounting Association (AAA) annual meetings and at the AAA Regional Ohio meetings. His recent awards include Issues in Accounting Education Best Paper Award, AAA in 2014; Graduate Teaching Excellent Award, Weatherhead School of Management in 2013 and 2015; and Best Manuscript Award, AAA-Ohio Region in 2012.
Jonas is a certified management accountant (CMA). He is active in Financial Executives International and is chair of the research foundation of the Institute of Management Accountants Research Foundation.
Prior to earning his PhD, Jonas received both his MBA and BBA from Western Michigan University.
