Gordon Anderson is the Principal and Owner of Barbizon Group. Established in June, 1998. Barbizon’s core mission is defining and implementing Structured Finance solutions for the Aviation and Shipping sectors. Gordon has completed many ‘First of Kind’ Cross Border Financings in both the Developing and Developed World.

A graduate in Law from the University of Edinburgh, and holder of an MBA degree from INSEAD, Gordon spent the majority of his early career in aviation negotiating the sale of Airliners and Executive Jets world-wide. This included commercial management of Technology Transfer and Licence deals in e.g. India and Korea.

In 1989 Gordon was appointed Head of Aviation and Structured Finance with DKB, then the world’s largest financial institution. Successful and novel structures included the Japanese Lease structure used for the majority of SAS leased aircraft that decade and the first US “FSC” Lease for Swissair.

In 2001 / 2002 Gordon also played a major role in a major international bank’s recovery of MD11 financings to bankrupt Swissair, including restructuring Tax Leases and agreeing true Operating Leases.

Barbizon Finance has been advising or representing a number of major shipping companies on structured finance products. Over US$2.0bn of deals completed or in hand for ships, aircraft and container box fleets.

Gordon has also over the years supported early stage projects through acting as an ‘Angel’ investor in his own right or sourcing capital investment or appropriate business partnerships. Specific projects include Software, Property, Bio-Fuel / Bio-Energy and Mining.

Gordon actively works with INSEAD’s Entrepreneurship Department, assessing and evaluating projects put forward by the student body.

Gordon, in partnership with the Green Granit Group is also working to save valuable rainforest in Aceh Indonesia. To this end Mr Anderson has inter alia co-led a team from Indonesia to Sweden and Denmark as guests of the Swedish Government.
