Giunia Gatta

Giunia Gatta teach political philosophy and political science in the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. Previously taught political theory at Columbia University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Minnesota. Received Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Minnesota in 2008 with a dissertation on Karl Jaspers’ notion of “boundary situation,” parts of which have been reworked into articles published in Philosophy and Social Criticism and in Contemporary Political Theory. Was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in 2009-2011.

Research interests: the intersection of political theory and international relations. Particularly interested in questions pertaining to violence, human rights, communication across radical political divides, and in how suffering is mediated from the private to the public sphere, and across different cultures.
