University of Technology Sydney

I am an Honorary Associate at the School of Software, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, UTS. I have been a senior lecturer at the School of Software specializing on database management and enterprise computing. I am the author of over 100 publications across a range of topics in information systems and computer science, including recent publications on enterprise architectures, SOA, and Cloud Computing models. I am a member of ACS and I hold a PhD from the Imperial College, London University, U.K.

Professional

I have over 30 years of research and consulting experience advising government and private organizations in a variety of consulting assignments, including expert advice in preparation for court proceedings, strategic advice on information systems selection and deployment, and assistance with analysis and implementation of information systems. Recent consulting and research projects include:

  • Assessment of potential patent infringement relating to computer-based searching. The project involved review of documentation of a commercial software application and reporting on potential patent infringement in preparation for court proceedings.
  • Expert advice for a legal firm regarding copyright infringement of a software solution for a retail company. The project involved review of the data model and database design and implementation and reporting on potential copyright infringement in preparation for court proceedings.
  • Development of a data model to support BI (Business Intelligence) applications for an educational organization. This project involved the development of a comprehensive business glossary to standardize the use of terminology across the organization, and the development of relational and dimensional data models.
  • Expert advice for a legal firm regarding a valuation of a software solution for a retail company. The project involved review of estimates of project cost and time, review of technical soundness of the retail software solution, and review of systems compliance with user requirements in preparation for court proceedings.
  • Expert advice for a legal firm regarding compliance of an Oracle database application with the statement of requirements as specified in the contract. The project involved investigation of the quality of the data model, database structures, program code, website implementation, and related documentation, and producing expert reports in preparation for court proceedings.
  • Development of cloud computing adoption guidelines for SMEs and large organizations.
  • Enterprise architectures and frameworks for cloud computing.
