My main area of research is on the pathogenesis of severe falciparum malaria ie to answer the question why patients with malaria become so sick and die. Understanding these pathways could lead to interventions which could reduce the mortality of this life threatening condition. I also worked on the immunology and treatment of drug resistant tuberculosis.
