Geert Van Hootegem

My academic work has always focused on understanding the impact of organisational structures, division of work and team working on various aspects of organisational performance and employee well-being.

In recent years, much of my work has been dedicated to making organisations aware of the implications of the changing demographic reality and the necessity for creating healthy, sustainable work. In this area, my research team is responsible for carrying out the fundamental and applied research for Flanders Synergy. With our fundamental, strategic and applied research at the KU Leuven we are elaborating Modern Sociotechnical Systems Theory. The company I co-created, Prepared Mind, brings evidence-based consulting and change programs to organisations in both the public and private sector.
