Biography

Ganga S Dhanesh (PhD, National University of Singapore) is Associate Professor and Associate Dean in the College of Communication and Media Sciences, Zayed University, UAE. Prior to her move to Dubai, she was Assistant Professor at the Department of Communications and New Media, National University of Singapore.

She has had experience in corporate and non-profit organizations and has published in the areas of corporate social responsibility, internal relations and strategic communication in books and journals such as Business Horizons, Management Communication Quarterly, Journal of Public Relations Research, Journal of International Management, Journal of Communication Management, Public Relations Review, and Public Relations Inquiry. A recent bibliometric analysis published in Public Relations Review placed her among the top two most productive scholars on CSR within public relations research.

Her work on exploring dialectics in CSR in India won the Bob Heath Top Paper Award at the annual conference of the International Communication Association, 2012 and her paper on CSR and internal relations in the Journal of Communication Management won the Outstanding Paper Award 2013. She won the Outstanding Reviewer Award 2017 for Journal of Communication Management, the Zayed University Outstanding Award for Research in 2020, and the best paper award at the annual congress of the European Public Relations Education and Research association (EUPRERA), 2021. Many of her articles published in top-tier, international, peer-reviewed journals are among the most downloaded, shared, read, and cited articles in the respective journals.

She serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Communication Management, is on the editorial board of the Public Relations Journal, and is Guest Editor for a special issue on Public Relations in the Middle East for the Journal of Public Relations Research. She is the university lead for the UN Women Unstereotype Alliance UAE chapter - ZU alliance and a lead researcher for the first Global Capabilities Framework study in the Middle East.
