Fritz Brugger is senior scientist at NADEL. Since 2018, as program coordinator he has been in charge of courses in the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) and the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) programmes. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. His research focuses on the developmental effects of natural resource extraction and on the role of extractive companies.

Before that Fritz worked for eight years for Helvetas. Later he became consultant with a focus on governance issues, among others in water management, agriculture and corporate responsibility. He had mandates form bi- and multilateral organizations, NGOs, and private sector companies.

The last five years before joining NADEL Fritz developed an index-based agricultural insurance for a private foundation as well as a mobile-technology based platform to foster market access for smallholder farmers. Fritz did most of his work in Sub-Sahara Africa.
