Fiona Saunders

Biography

Dr Fiona Saunders is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Project Management in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at The University of Manchester. She obtained her PhD from The University of Manchester in 2016 and is a Chartered Manufacturing Engineer (MIET).  She also holds a MBA with Distinction from Lancaster University Management School and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Durham.

Her research interests are in the management of project uncertainty, especially in safety-critical environments and the use of technology to enhance student learning.  Fiona also works closely with project management organisations in the engineering and nuclear sectors.

Prior to becoming an academic, Fiona enjoyed a successful career in manufacturing management, project management and consultancy at The University of Manchester Innovation Group (UMI3), PA Consulting Group and the Autobar Group of Companies.
