Erik Blutinger

Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Queens

Biography

Dr. Erik Blutinger graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine (SMHS) in 2015 and co-founded an NGO for medical equipment donation to the Kingdom of Bhutan. He completed a Master’s degree in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing at both the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the London School of Economics (LSE). Dr. Blutinger completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2019 while completing their esteemed Leadership in Quality Improvement (QI) program. He holds the title as Simulation Champion at Mount Sinai Queens. He also works on a variety of telehealth and rural-based initiatives for the Mount Sinai health system. He has worked overseas in several unique health care settings including rural clinics in South Africa, Guatemala, and Tuba City (IHS) given his passion for improving health care delivery for underserved populations . He has served multiple board directorship roles for national and local organizations including the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA), and the Pennsylvania State ACEP Chapter (PACEP). Dr. Blutinger is a physician leader who has written several peer reviewed publications and newspaper editorials on public health issues including opioid prescribing and population health, while also serving on several national Committees to the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). He is fluent in Italian.
