Biography

UW Professional & Continuing Education

Erica Akiko Howard (she/her) is a freelance nonfiction editor with specialties in environmental science and science education. She enjoys copyediting, line editing and fact-checking for clients of diverse backgrounds, including multi-language authors from around the world. Her typical projects include journal articles, educational materials and PowerPoint decks.

She is an alum of the UW Certificate in Editing program. Before becoming an editor, Erica worked as a college science instructor and has also taught environmental science, dance and music in various settings. She is on the board of the Northwest Editors Guild and a member of ACES, the Council of Science Editors and the Editors of Color Database.
