Eric Tassone

Biography

Eric C. Tassone, J.D./PH.D, joins the faculty of the University of Virginia's School of Data Science as an Associate Professor of Data Science, General Faculty, with a courtesy appointment at UVA's Darden School of Business. Eric will co-teach an MBA elective at Darden on the topic of experimentation and will serve as the co-director of the "Collaboratory for Applied Data Science in Business," which is currently under development between SDS and Darden. In the past Eric taught as Adjunct Faculty at Darden, co-instructing "Data Science in Business" in 2015 and 2016.

Prior to joining UVA, Eric was a Data Scientist at Google from 2007 to 2019. He led teams and projects in several areas across Google, including in Search, on time series forecasting efforts, and at Google's video-sharing website YouTube. Previously, Eric was a post-doctoral fellow at Duke University's Children's Environmental Health Initiative and Department of Statistical Science and worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on racial disparities in health outcomes.

Eric holds a PH.D. in Biostatistics from Emory University, a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and M.S. and B.S. degrees in mathematics from the University of Florida.
