Kelley School of Business

Eric McDermott is a Senior Lecturer by the Department of Business Economics and Public Policy at Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. Before joining Kelley Scholl of Business in 2020, he was a Teaching Assistant Professor at University of Illinois.

He became the Doctor of Philosophy in Economics (Ph.D.) at University of Minnesota in 2014. Before that, he has acquired a Master of Arts (M.A.) diploma in Economics from the same University, a M.A. in Education Policy and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics from University of Iowa.

Eric has started his academic career as a Teaching Assistant in 2009, and in the meantime developed and exercised curriculums in Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, and Cost Benefit Analysis as well as an online Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, and Econ Statistics II. Besides his alma mater universities, he had opportunities to teach at Hamline University at St. Paul (2010) and Cornell University at Ithaca (2014-2016).

On top of lecturing, Eric is engaged in academic research, textbook reviews, conference presentations, and other university services and activities. His contributions have been recognized and awarded many times with a Distinguished Instructor honor at the University of Minnesota.

Eric is fluent in English and Spanish, and is basic conversational in Zulu.
