Nanyang Technological University

Eric T. Harvill completed his Ph.D in Immunology at UCLA in 1996 and postdoctoral studies in Microbial Pathogenesis. He has served the National Academies, NIH, USDA, DOD and other agencies in a variety of capacities and has served on many national and international review panels and editorial boards. He advanced to Distinguished Professor of Microbiology and Infectious Disease at Penn State and in 2016 transitioned to the Department of Infectious Diseases in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia.

He holds the honorary title of Visiting Professor in the Singapore Centreon Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) at Lee Kong Chian Medicine and Nanyang Technological University. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in a wide variety of journals. He is excited to be joining the Center for Vaccines and Immunology, and to address the problems associated with the reemergence of Pertussis in vaccinated populations.

  • Bacterial pathogens and host immunity
  • How pathogens manipulate the immune response
  • How pathogens interact with other resident bacteria (microbiota)
  • The effects of these various interactions on vaccine efficacy
