New York University Abu Dhabi

Eric Hamilton holds an MA in Security Studies from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a PhD in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Southern California. His research and teaching interests focus on international relations theory, international security, and US foreign and national security policy. His primary current research explores the origins, manifestations, and consequences of the American national security state and the impact of America’s state structure and decision-making procedures on the country’s foreign policy behavior. Additionally, Eric has published on the impact of resource scarcity on great power security competition, the relationship between domestic institutions and foreign policy, and military operations and counterinsurgency.
