Eric Frere

Biography

Eric Frère is a German-French economist and has been a professor at FOM - University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management, headquartered in Essen, since 2001. He also serves as the Dean of Business Administration and directs the Institute for Strategic Finance. In addition, he is the owner of Frère Consult, a company specializing in corporate and personnel consulting.

After completing his training as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank AG, Eric Frère studied economics and business administration at Julius-Maximilians-University in Würzburg and Albertus-Magnus-University in Cologne. He then obtained his doctorate at Ruhr-University Bochum at the Chair of Economic Policy under the former President of the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI) in Essen. With previous positions at Credit Commercial de France (CCF), Bayer UK, and Bankhaus Lampe KG, he has been working as a corporate finance and asset management consultant for more than twenty years. In these roles, he has facilitated several initial public offerings on the regulated market and executed venture capital/private equity financings. He is also actively involved as a business angel, advisory board member, and supervisory board member for various companies, including Arivis AG and Faveo AG, as well as serving as an advisor to Deutsche Bank AG, WEPEX-Unternehmensberatung, and beesmart.city[3].

Since 1998, he has been teaching finance, corporate finance, international entrepreneurship, and international finance at FOM. He was appointed as a professor in 2001 and received his habilitation from the University of West Hungary in Sopron in 2012. He is currently the director of the Institute for Strategic Finance (isf) and the dean of Business Administration II at FOM. His research focuses on corporate finance, strategic asset allocation, portfolio management, and financial compliance. Since 2007, Eric Frère has also been a guest professor at the following universities and colleges: Masaryk University Brno (2007), Pfeiffer University Charlotte USA (2007), Fontys Hogescholen Venlo (2010), University of West Hungary Sopron (2010), Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (2011), University of Banja Luka (2012), International College of Management Sydney (2014).
