Biography

-

My research interests center on writing teaching and learning, particularly around writing that is done with digital tools/in digital spaces, with an emphasis on how writers (adolescents and educators) move their writing across in- and out-of-school contexts (digital and in-person). The notion of voice and how writers draw on their digital writing practices to advocate for social change/engage in activism is an integral aspect of this focus. Methodologically, I am committed to participatory forms of research, e.g., youth participatory action research (YPAR), and considering "what counts" as participation in what contexts and to and for whom. Such participatory work requires long-term commitments to partnerships with schools, teachers, students, and administrators and with community organizations and community members.
