Eli Yi-liang Tung is a Lecturer in the Department of Analytics and Operations at National University of Singapore (NUS). He is an enthusiastic teacher to advocate the use of Business Analytics in undergraduate business teaching. Currently, Eli is one of the core course instructors offering Python programming at NUS Business School. Moreover, Eli has taught the fundamental Business Analytics module for 5 years. Besides teaching, Eli has actively collaborated with industry partners to solve real business projects by applying analytical techniques. Two examples of these projects are demand forecasts for patient arrivals in the emergency departments of major public hospitals in Singapore and product remanufacturing management in a closed-loop supply chain environment.

Eli, as a professional data scientist, has diverse research interest and aims to utilize data to benefit the whole society. In business research, Eli developed new methodologies to predict how customers make a purchase decision. Moreover, Eli is also eager to know what factors affect people’s development in their life spans. Eli applied cutting-edge analytical methods to understand human development and has published papers in psychological journals. Currently, Eli is working on theoretical development in data science such as the improvement of estimation techniques in statistical inference and efficient estimation techniques in Bayesian statistical models. In addition to the theoretical development, Eli recently initiated a research project on the evaluation of corporate social performance in Singapore.
