ILR School

Elaine Kim joins the Worker Institute's Labor Leadership Team as a Senior Extension Associate. She has more than 20 years experience in social justice movement leadership. For the last 13 years, she has worked at SEIU 32BJ, serving in a variety of capacities, including as a Special Assistant to (then) President Mike Fishman. Most recently, she helped lead an organization-wide strategic planning process leading to the establishment of key organizational change initiatives at the union.

Prior to her time at SEIU 32BJ, she worked in queer and Asian-American communities, and she started her time in the movement organizing low-income communities around welfare issues at Community Voices Heard. We are confident Elaine will bring to our team a powerful body of expertise and wisdom informed by years of building skills and connections.

Elaine holds a magna-cum-laude BA in Sociology from Brown University and a MA from Sarah Lawrence College.
